Past Meeting – Action Time!
Our meeting lived up to it’s title. We had an action packed day full of learning, starting with focusing on the power and impact of a great speaker introduction. Several excellent examples were shared, and then key criteria were identified. Two members had their intro’s read and received real-time feedback for improving them on the spot from the audience. Talk about value added! As we did the introduction format, we played with the audience response systems in teams, learning how this technology can help us. Attendees also had Mastermind break out sessions to get the input from their peers regarding some aspect of their speaking business.
- Keys to a Great Introduction:Brevity
Create intrigue
Establish your credibility (books, accomplishments, credentials, etc)
Make if relevant to the audience
Make it congruent; tie the speaker to the content of the presentation
Use humor
Identify audience need and how you will speak to it
Create meaningful connection to the audience
Clearly answer “What’s in it for me?”
Set the expectations for the presentation, and meet them with the speech
Let us know the presenter as a person, not just a content expert.
NSA Northwest is actively using social media, and Jolene and Dan tutored us through our NSA Northwest ning site, encouraging members to post to the forum share ideas, ask questions and collaborate with other members. Folks were encouraged to post their introductions and solicit feedback from our colleagues!
Highlights were shared from the National convention this last summer: NSA Northwest had about 30 members attending, one of the highest percentages of any chapter!
Deanna Turner checked in to our meeting live, for an interview using Skype, and shared “The Anatomy of a Sales Call” – which was enormously helpful. Using the PAVE model, Deanna shared a succinct structure to turn a qualified lead into a closed deal via a sales call. Ask an attendee what they learned about this simple, yet powerful strategy!

- -17 people committed to their business to an action for the October 10th meeting.
